Measuring Guide
The video below will help guide as you measure.
- BEFORE YOU START
What you need – tape measure, bank/credit card, pen and paper.
Take all measurements from inside your property, looking out of the window. Your uPVC window or door will need a 25mm clearance around all 4 edges of the glass, for example window vents and handles, among other things. Include rubber beading or seals in all measurements. You should measure from the PVC frame to the PVC frame.
Our shutters are only suitable for rounded, curved or beveled window beads. They are not suitable for square beading.
- STEP 1
Measure the width of the glass pane across the bottom of the window. Note down the measurement in mm.
Do the same for all 4 corners of the glass to get all your clips into place.
- STEP 2
Measure the height of each glass pane across the side of the window. Note down the measurement in mm.
- STEP 3
Measure the bead depth. This is the distance between the pane of glass and the front of the window frame.
The easiest way to do this is to place a bank/credit card up against the window frame (preferably across a corner) and then measure the depth from the glass to the credit card.
This should be between 18-30mm, if in between sizes please round up. Note down this measurement.
- STEP 4
Step 4 only applies for windows. Please ignore when measuring for doors.
If there is a handle on a window we will need to know its pivot point position. The pivot point is when the handle is at 90 degrees as seen in the accompanying photo.
If the handle is along the left or right hand side of the frame, then measure from the bottom of the glass pane, to the handle’s pivot point. Note down this measurement.
